12th October - the inaugural LAPCPADPOUB day

After a thread (and ensuing comments) over on The Sea of Immeasurable Gravy, I suggest that we grasp the bull with both handfuls of nettle and appropriate a day to celebrate 'let's all post cat photos and dire poetry on our blogs' day or LAPCPADPOUB day as it shall henceforth be known. I may try and think of a slightly catchier and easy to remember acronym.

Let's celebrate the furry parasites that sponge food and warm radiators off us, whilst treating us with disdain! Let's revel in our ability to produce rotten verse!

Of course, bad poems about our cats are doubleplusgood.

So, on 12th October, I will be posting my photos of the feline creatures and, if I'm feeling brave, I might subject an ode to general derision. Let's make it a date!

(please don't let it be just me, turning me into some kind of internet mad cat woman...)

I'll be right there with you! Fear not! I shall make the poetry excruciating and the cats many!

Love this!

Cats add elegance and charm to a garden - how could anyone disagree!

Yes, I also find the sight of a creature licking it's nether regions both elegant and charming ;-)

Heh, as you've seen, I've already made a head-start on the dire poetry!! I'll be on holiday then, but I shall do my best. If I can't find any cat pictures can I post one of Hubster licking himself?

jj, I shall look forward to it.

Fantastic idea! I have put it in my diary and I am already sorting through my cat pictures and lining my two up for some great poses!
The poetry is harder but I'm sure I can make a bad job of it!

I have cat photos, but poetry is something else altogether. I will have to think on it a bit. :)

I am not into cats and poetry, but I am certainly not into condescension, so...

i hate being left out, so I am going out with my camera now to try and get some snaps of other people's cats so that I can pretend they're mine

Hi Karen - that's weird. Looking forward to all the cat-based activity.

I'm sure cats won't mind if non cat owners take random photos of them. Most cats are very free with their affections - will model for blogs for tuna.

I would love to participate in this cat adventure but the problem is I have not got a cat anymore. I know there is one in the neighbourhood; bling! I just got an idea which I will not reveal here; so I see you on LAPCPADPOUB day!

I would very much like to send copies of my book to the three most excessive examples of cat nuttery combined with excessively schmaltzy poetry.

HappyMouffetard said...

Thank you, James. And it is only right that you are the judge of everyone's efforts, as the catalyst for the day.

Oh noooo! I didn't read this in time... same time next year, I hope?? or maybe a mid-year celebration?

Or, if you don't want to repeat cats, how about the LAPPODHBS day ("let's all post photos of dog holding basket statues" day.)

You know the one...
