A study in red

We've never grown Hippeastrum (amaryllis) before. It has been great fun watching the dried looking bulb spring into life; the stem gradually lengthening, and finally the petals unfurling. So meet 'Red Lion'. It's ridiculously photogenic.

A shock of colour in a cold, white February.

They're fabulous, aren't they? They just present endless opportunities for photographing.

I was going to say not a winter colour then I thought of Santa (lol).
It looks beautiful and exotic. I want one too!

Beautiful photos. What an amazing colour - I don't usually like amaryllis, but I'm converted by this one!

Superb photography TIG, I love them. Wasn't that fussed on amaryllis, but I think they've just grown on me! Thank you so much.
