Hi Lucy, thanks for commenting. It's the bark of a Prunus (not sure which one). I thought that the mahogany-looking bark looked as though it was flowing through the raised areas. These are lenticels - the "breathing holes" of the bark, connecting the inside of the bark to the outside. It looked like the waves washing through rocks on the beach.

Haven't the foggiest idea what the title means, nor what the picture is of - but it's rather good as a pattern though.

That is a beautiful picture. I love it. It would have to be my desktop/screen saver/all purpose background to life.
I didn't understand the title either but i still think it's a very fab photo. Happy WW.

I had to look up lenticels - having misread it as lentils when I glanced at the title. The picture is lovely too!
