Lovely coloured petals. I wonder what fuction the hairs serve (if any) - I've not thought about that before :-)

Hi Karen - thanks :). It's surprising how hairy it is in close-up.

EG - You've got me wondering now - I know that in plants from dry areas, the hairs conserve water, but I wouldn't have though that would be a particular issue with this one.

PG - thank you, Helen. It's an Epimedium x warleyense 'Ellen Wilmott'. It likes a little shade, and is ground cover, but doesn't spread like wildfire. I was so taken with this one that I planted three white ones in another border last autumn, but it looks like one may have died over winter, and the other two haven't flowered yet. Fingers crossed.

What a beautiful image. I love the fuzzy stem.

How beautiful - and yet another plant I have fallen in love with. Ah well, Malvern is coming up...

That epimedium is so gorgeous, and has reminded me that I have some new places to plant up that offer just the right conditions... thanks!
