GBBD - May 2015

I’m a bit forgetful over GBBD at the moment. I happened to notice Michelle at Veg Plotting’s post on wallflowers, which piqued my memory. Ah yes, the wallflowers. They will get a post of their own very soon. But as soon as I finished work this afternoon, I rushed out with the camera to capture the flowers on offer in the garden today.

Spring has come all at once, and we have blossom, tulips, a few very late daffodils, and the start of the summer flowers (alliums) as well. Peony buds are swelling. The scents are wonderful.  The self-sown aquilegias are doing their morphic resonance thing again. And so, I present May 2015.

Thanks to Carol at May Dreams Gardens for hosting GBBD.

Beautiful poppy, and I love that orange and blue combination with the forget-me-nots and wallflowers!

Do you know the name of the pink stripey Geranium? We have them in our new front garden and while I'm not a fan of pink, they flower practically all year, which does liven it up a bit.

Hi Juliet,

I've answered over on your blog, but thought I'd put the answer here, too, just in case anyone did know what it was and wondered why I was photographing weeds.

It's Herb Robert, a member of the geranium family, and technically a 'weed'. I'm rather fond of it, so let it stay in most places, though it does self seed.

I like the photo of the escaping allium HM. Herb Robert likes my garden too much for its own good :)

I cut away my big and woody wallflower from the brick it was growing through because it was sprawling across the path and getting in the way. It left a seed of itself in a pot so I let that grow. It's the same colour as yours but a faint and weedy specimen compared with its parent.

@ Anna - Mine too. I've had to have a bit of a weed today.

@ Esther - I kept a few in three years ago. They survive, but aren't exactly floriferous. Mind you, they've also had to cope with being 'investigated' by a small child over the past couple of years, too.
