August Blooms

Two posts without pretty pictures, so I shall rectify that by getting around to Garden Bloggers Bloom Day only 24 hours late.

Rudbeckia fulgida var. sullivantii 'Goldsturm'
The centre of the flower looks as rich as Christmas pudding.

Lonicera periclymenum 'Sweet Sue'

Ipomoea 'Grandpa Ott' (rear view)

Lilium speciosum Rubrum

Calendula

Clematis 'Black Prince'

Californian Poppy

Osteospermum

Rear view of Japanese anemone - furry!

Aster frikartii 'Monch'

Sedum

Lavender and bees

Unknown pink rose, with buddleja and lavender

Verbena hastata 'Rosea'

Garden Bloggers Bloom Day is hosted by Carol at May Dreams Gardens.

Nice to see your blooms - I like your Clematis 'Black Prince' and the Verbena hastata 'Rosea' looks very elegant.

  6. Thank you for your comments :-).

I've planted Clematis 'Black Prince in all three of the gardens I've had, leaving a trail of them when I move.

The Verbena hastata is as loved by the bees & butterflies as V. bonariensis

I like the Rudbeckia. Rear views of flowers - what a good idea - saves lots of undignified contortions with the camera.

  12. Absolutely beautiful blooms! Wonderful job with the camera too.
The Verbena hastata is lovely, and Black Prince is a beauty too. I definitely must try the Grandpa Otts.
My Japanese anemones have just begun blooming. They're so delicate..but tough at the same time. This is their first year of bloom for me...given to me by a friend last fall. I love them!
