I have been going through my blog posts and noticed this post, which I never got around to actually posting. I wrote the following on 6th May. What I failed to do at the time (probably due to Mr BT's broadband playing up) was upload the photo to go with it. And now I have no idea what flower I had in mind.
So, please help me! What flower springs to mind when you read the short post below? A gold star to the best answer.

I have no idea what flower it is, sorry. But as a blogger who has half written many posts this made me laugh heartily. Glad I'm not alone!

Michelle - I don't think it was cherry, but you have certainly made me look forward to standing under the blossom of a cherry next spring.
RO - it could well be, actually. Gold star possibly awarded.
Anna - frilly double tulip could be second place contender.
Frances - having looked back at photos taken around that time, I did wax lyrical about an iris but it was a few weeks later, but good guess!
NG - I understand why you say ythat, but I don't think I've got a lot of white in the garden (though now I've committed this to print, I'll remember I actually have loads!)
MMD - they certainly would be if I had either of them in the garden - think I'll have to get both!
Wendy - I do love dahlias and they are definitely that sort of flower, but a little early for them.
Joanne - how true.
EG - yes, it must have been a real eye catcher. I just wish I had finished off the post!
Gail - ah, now I did post about bluebells a couple of weeks later, but have none in the garden. I adore huge sweeps of bluebells.
Thank you all for your guesses. I think it's most likely a peony, as it's big and frilly and pink. A bit like the Any Williams song. Thanks for jogging my memory!
Ah there's nothing like a big blousy pink peony to make a girl smile! I'm sorry we missed that photo, I'll tune in next spring in the hope of seeing it!

ReplyDeleteMartyn, unfortunately I'm not even organised enough to have planted sunflower seeds by May, never mind having the flowers! I know what oyu mean though, especially the deeply coloured flowers - they're gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteI opt for pansy, whatever the hues. Maybe that is a personal preference, you of course have the last choice!
