Dear Happy .. now that is a beautiful picture .. the rings always fascinate me .. and I don't mind admitting one bit that I am a total "tree hugger" and I have squeezed many trees in my small gardens !
I just updated my Mac's operating system to Snow Leopard, and there's a handsome photo of a tree's rings in the desktop wallpaper file. I like yours even more, though!
Lovely tree stump !.... the tree must have seen rings and cycles of seasons, the heat and the rain. Soon the stump will collect moss and mushroom and then become part of nature's cycle. ~bangchik

I love the detail on this photo sometimes it is the things we take for granted that are the most beautiful

Beautiful picture of tree rings but still prefer them living..
Gorgeous photo HM!
Just to let you know that my '7 things...' meme post is up now - hope you like it!
Nice shot. Often simple is best.
PG - yes, the colours really struck me.
Shirl & GardenJoy4Me - yes, there's nothing like hugging a tree, is there?
Jodi - thanks for your comment.
Joanne - yes, I love feeling the bark of trees, and the softness of the leaves in the spring.
RO - thank you. I love your facts!
Bangchik - what a lovely thought.
Titiania - thank you. No, I didn't count them, but it was quite a big tree.
Trisha - great facts - I've posted on your blog. The tree was in a botanic garden, so I'm assuming that it was ill and had to be chopped.
NG - thanks, and as for your seven facts - what interesting things!
Helen - thank you. It really caught my eye.
