After even only a few days away from the garden, things move on. Which is good. So, the iris has gone over, as have a couple of clematis. But we have a few new beauties instead...
Rodgersia aesculifolia
Astrantia major 'Star of Billion'
Astrantia major 'Star of Billion'
Achillea 'Paprika'
Centaurea montana 'Alba'
Allium 'Hair' - looking like some tentacled deep water beastie. The cats have had fun playing 'catch' with the buds, which are on very long stems.
I would post more, but the broadband is playing up this evening, so it's taken five attempts to post these photos!
GBBD is hosted by Carol at May Dreams Gardens - thank you, Carol. Check out all the other blogs taking part in GBBD this June.

Hair is quite a different looking allium...is it well behaved or are there little 'Hairs' all over the place! I envy you a cat in the garden...it's not safe for cats to wander here...Busy street and coyotes. gaail
Hi Gail, this is the first time I've grown Hair. I'm not entirely sure that I like it at the moment, it was a bit of a spur of the moment purchase when I bought my bulbs last year. Still, it keeps the cats amused. Time will tell if it seeds itself about!
Now that's a new astrantia to me - will have to investigate forthwith :)
Very fun stuff.
I hate it when I have more photos than the computer or broadbands are ready to cope with. Do you like that, "Cope with?" Doesns't it sound British. I wrote it with a British accent. H.
HappyM - you have some gems here and I want them all.
This post also reminded me that I planted 3 allium "hair" but they haven't materialized and I don't remember where I put them :(

Isn't that Allium 'Hair' a hoot? :) I saw it at Brent & Becky's last month & it made me smile. Beautiful blooms today.
Let's see if I can be coherent after having a glass of wine with my dinner: I love Astrantia, Centaurea, and certainly Alliums - what a wonderfully unusual variety. But for one reason or another these plants do not thrive in my garden. Achillea, on the other hand, runs riot. And I won't even suggest the notion of growing Rodgersia here!
Alice
I love quirky looking plants like the allium. You should check out some of Ernst Haeckel's prints of sea life. Your plant would fit right in.
Wonderfully delicate pictures.
I'm not familiar with the 'Hair'. Is the photo of a bud half open or will it stay like that?
Esther
Anna - a good excuse to buy a new plant, then!
Helen - very British - stiff upper lip and all that.
Karen - Thank you. Hope your 'Hair' make a belated appearance
PG - thank you. Hair is certainly a thing of interest, if not quite beauty.
Alice - I admire your coherence. what a shame they don't thrive in your garden, but I'm sure you have lots of plants what would turn up their roots and die in mine.
Jill-O - after a quick google, you're right! Thanks for introducing me to Ernst Haeckel.
Esther - it was still partially in bud. Today they have come on a bit and the hair is escaping out from under the cap some more. I might take another photo at the weekend if/when they're all out.
When I saw the title of your blog I was expecting a rambling, rambunctious garden; but no! It is quite elegant after all. Beautiful.
thanks for your visit to my blog, and your kind comments. I am loving your Centaura, I need to get some of those! Looked back, and saw your Dutch Chocolate iris, it looks like a winner!
Rodgersia is one of those plants I must admire from afar, and admire it I do. Allium 'Hair' looks like a very fun plant. (Yes, I do enjoy the freakish.)
Lovely photos
Sylvana - thanks for visiting my blog.
MMD - yes, freakish describes it quite well.
Joanne - thank you.
