A word to the wise...

...if you are thinking of starting a blog and are likely to meet people off the internet, it is perhaps wise to think about your username.

I have spent today meeting a lot of wonderful, friendly people at the Malvern Show. I have spent today saying "Hello, I'm HappyMouffetard".

Thank you to VP and Helen for all the organisation. More shenanigans tomorrow, and no doubt lots of great posts over the next few days. In the mean time, as a little teaser, here's three men who don't need to introduce themselves with silly names...

Yes, on twitter I've interacted with the science minister Lord Drayson, I feel slightly foolish doing it under my twitter name which is SmallCasserole! Someone I know online ended up introducing himself as "Frosty the snowman" in Geneva airport.

I wouldn't even know how to pronounce your username. Glad your having a great time. Hope the weather is a bit warmer than what it is up here in Scotland.

And those 3 need no introduction at all - they look as if they are having great fun.

You both have me chuckling. But I love your handles, and you can introduce yourself to me as Happy Mouffetard (or SomeBeans) anytime. I go by a much more prosaic ID.

It was so lovely to meet you in person - I just wish we had more time - I like your username - although I confess to calling you "HappyM"

It's a great name! It sounds such fun that you all met up. I was amused the other day when my teenage daughter asked what I was doing and I said I was talking to (gardening) people over the internet. After all they learn at school she looked at me with large solemn but slightly mischievous eyes and said, "You know you mustn't agree to meet them, now don't you.?"

@NewShoot - and very nice to meet you, too.

@Rosie, it's not been much warmer further south. I respond to 'Mouffe' if the full name is a bit of a mouthful!

Helen - thank you. I think I've just about got over the embarassment of introducing myself now, but if there is a meet up in the future, I may go for a T-shirt with username and avatar on it.

Karen - great to meet you too!

Marian - yes, I think my friends at work thought I was being a bit mad. Your daughter is quite right!

You might also say, HM!
I tend to abbreviate your handle.
I finallyy watched the Three Men's RHS video earlier today, and can't wait to watch it again.
